836M is delighted to announce a pop-up exhibition of visual art in connection with the publication of The Blue Food Cookbook by legendary chefs Andrew Zimmern and Barton Seaver. On sale October 28, the Blue Food Cookbook is a visually rich and deeply informative guide to buying and cooking seafood sustainably.
The Blue Food Cookbook includes images from award-winning photographer Eric Wolfinger and more than two dozen watercolor paintings by Yulia Shevchenko, an artist based in New Jersey. Original photographs and watercolor paintings will be on display in 836M’s storefront gallery space from October 28 through November 18.
As part of the exhibition, on November 6, 836M will host a free book signing and tasting event. Wolfinger will join food stylist Alison Attenborough in a conversation moderated by Jennifer Bushman, executive director of Fed by Blue, an initiative founded in 2022 to raise awareness about the critical role of blue foods – foods from the water – in advancing sustainable food systems.
The pop–up exhibition will be open to the public Tuesdays through Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., through November 18.
About Fed by Blue
Founded in 2022, Fed by Blue is a communications initiative advancing a responsible blue food system through awareness, education, and action. Our strategy is grounded in equity, ocean and freshwater restoration, and regenerative seafood practices. We aim to elevate the importance of responsibly produced blue food in climate, health, and food system narratives.
Fed by Blue led the fundraising and vision for the PBS docuseries, Hope in the Water. The series premiered on PBS in June 2024 and has had over 8 million viewers and counting across PBS and Amazon Prime. Fed by Blue hosted 6 premiere events (including the “Blue Carpet” premiere at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles) and supported 47 screenings in collaboration with PBS affiliates, with 24 markets directly engaged.
Fed by Blue worked with PBS to develop educational toolkits related to the docuseries that have reached hundreds of thousands of educators and students with practical, engaging, and inspiring tools to better understand the role of food in climate resilience, nutrition, and cultural connection. Over 440,000 teachers downloaded the PBS Learning Media toolkits that we co-developed with PBS Learning Media, the Blue Food Assessment, and the Food for Climate League.
In 2025, Fed by Blue launched the “Fed by Blue” podcast on Heritage Radio Network provides an ongoing platform for storytelling and awareness.
EXHIBITION DATES:

Jennifer Bushman is a sustainable seafood expert, communicator, and strategist who has been championing ethical aquaculture for more than two decades. She has been on a mission to transform the food system, preserve the oceans, nourish the world’s ever-growing population, and offset carbon emissions. With those goals in mind, she launched the Sea Pantry initiative which educates consumers on how to make responsible seafood choices every day. Food leaders such as the James Beard Foundation and the International Association of Culinary Professionals have recognized Jennifer’s culinary contributions as groundbreaking in terms of palate experience, health benefits, and climate impact. Because Jennifer believes that policy change-making is as important as what we put on our plates, she sits on the boards of numerous ocean advocacy organizations, among which is Alexandra Cousteau’s Oceans 2050 and the Marine Mammal Center. She was the Impact Producer for the Emmy and James Beard Nominated PBS Series, Hope in the Water.

Eric Wolfinger is a celebrated food photographer and director who worked as a line cook and baker before transitioning behind the camera. He directed the documentary short Dashi Journey and has collaborated on over 20 cookbooks. Wolfinger won a James Beard Award for his work on Evan Funke’s book American Sfoglino.

Yulia Shevchenko is a watercolor artist based in New Jersey. She has painted for over thirteen years, working in both fine art and illustration. She loves watercolor for its light and clear look, and for the way the medium creates fresh and unexpected effects. She enjoys painting many subjects, including landscapes, flowers, animals, city scenes, buildings, and dance. Her work has appeared in magazines, on packaging, and in private galleries. Yulia invites each viewer to find their own meaning in her art, whether it brings back memories, emotions, or simply the joy of seeing something in a new way.
